The Office of Sustainability has developed a new set of recycling outreach materials that are available in various formats to help UI staff, students, and campus visitors recycle more and landfill less. New posters, flyers, digital display slides, and social media graphics now include new items that can be recycled (cartons), and the color scheme is a darker blue to more closely match the color of recycling bins on campus.
The new outreach materials were developed after consulting with various stakeholders on campus. A limited supply of new 11x17-inch posters are available to replace damaged or missing signs. If you have locations that meet this criteria, please contact Beth Mackenzie, recycling coordinator, and indicate specific locations that need signage and the number of signs needed.
Additionally, electronic copies of the 11x17 poster and 8.5x11 flyer are available to download and print.
To compliment the new posters, a digital display slide is also available to download in various sizes. We encourage you to post the slide on digital displays in your department and building. If you need a different size, please contact recycle@uiowa.edu and we will resize the slide to fit your needs. A social media graphic is also available to download and share through social networks.
This month, the recycling team is also kicking off a "Recycling Tip of the Month" campaign that will include a new digital display slide and social media graphic each month. Staff and students are encouraged to share the tip of the month through their favorite communication networks. The August tip is a reminder about keeping plastic bags out of the recycling bins on campus. Please feel free to download and post this month's tip and keep an eye out for more to come!
